Dealing With Government Agencies

The federal, provincial and municipal governments often establish agencies to handle specific matters. There are rules about accountability and fairness that these agencies must follow. These agencies are accountable to the public as well as the government.

Fair Decision-Making

Government agencies owe a duty of fairness in making decisions. This duty applies to an agency when it does something which affects your rights or privileges.

Proper Use of Authority

Government agencies are authorized to make certain types of decisions. When doing so, they must use their discretion properly.

Challenging a Decision

If you are not satisfied with a governmental agency’s decision, you may be able to have the matter reviewed.

PLEA offers free online training on preventing and addressing workplace harassment.
