Social Services: Financial Assistance

Saskatchewan residents who need financial help can apply for assistance under the Saskatchewan Income Support program (SIS.)

You may be eligible if…

  • you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status
  • you are living in Saskatchewan
  • you are 18 or over
  • you have no income or low income
  • you have made every other reasonable effort to support yourself (including things like applying for CPP benefits, Canada Child Benefit, tax credits, spousal/child support)

Applying for Support

Before you apply for financial assistance you will want to gather certain information and documents that will be required to process your application.

Receiving Support

It is important that individuals receiving financial support understand how the process works and what is expected of them.

Over-Payments

If you receive more income support than you are entitled to Social Services can recover the overpayment from your future benefits and in other ways.

Social Assistance Appeals

If you have applied for or are receiving income support you can appeal any decision that affects whether you receive income support or the amount you receive.
