Aging can bring about changes in people's mental and physical abilities. However, it is against the law to discriminate against someone based on their age. It is up to older adults themselves to decide if they want to retire or want to continue to drive unless they are no longer fit to do so.
The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code prohibits discrimination against anyone based on their age (18 or over) in the areas of schooling, housing, public services, contracts, publications and employment.
In Saskatchewan you can continue to renew your licence every year regardless of your age. However, if problems are reported drivers may have to undergo an assessment to see if they are still capable of driving safely.
